Jonathan Farine

Lawyer

Jonathan acts for patients and families in medical malpractice and personal injury litigation. His path in this field began before law school, at Sommers Roth & Elmaleh. There, Jonathan assisted with a birth trauma trial and saw first-hand what skilled, committed advocacy can mean for a family after a devastating injury, an experience that set the course for his career. Jonathan went on to complete his JD/MBA at the University of Toronto, articled at a full-service Bay Street firm, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019. He then practised personal injury litigation, representing seriously injured clients and their families. In 2026, Jonathan returned to Sommers Roth & Elmaleh to focus fully on medical malpractice.

Medical malpractice cases are won on rigorous analysis. Jonathan brings an uncommon foundation to this work – a mathematics degree and an MBA – which shapes how he builds causation and damages cases. Clients know Jonathan for his meticulous preparation, direct answers, and genuine dedication to their outcome.

Jonathan is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association, the Toronto Lawyers Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Law Society of Ontario. He has volunteered with community initiatives including the Brain Injury Association and Bike Law.
