Lisa Lutwak

Lisa Lutwak is a lawyer at Sommers Roth & Elmaleh, where her practice focuses on medical malpractice litigation. Drawing on her experience in litigation, institutional governance and strategic decision-making, Lisa helps individuals and families navigate medical negligence claims with careful advocacy, sound judgment and a clear, practical approach to complex medical and legal issues.

Early in her legal career, Lisa summered and articled at Crown Law Office – Civil with the Ontario Ministry of the Attorney General, where she gained broad exposure to civil litigation. She later worked on class actions, commercial disputes and construction litigation, including at one of Canada’s leading litigation boutiques. These experiences strengthened the analytical, advocacy and strategic thinking skills that continue to shape her approach to medical malpractice litigation.

Lisa later held senior leadership positions at York University and the University of Toronto, where she advised institutional leaders on governance, administrative law and procedural fairness. Her experience advising institutional leaders on significant decision-making and policy issues provides a valuable perspective in medical malpractice litigation, where cases often require careful analysis of clinical decision-making, institutional policies and systems of care.

Lisa received her Juris Doctor from Western University, where she was awarded the Malcolm J. McKinnon Award, and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2014. She has presented continuing legal education programs for the Ontario Bar Association.
